How to make medieval Gothic chair or throne for MSD BJD doll

I was mulling over the idea of medieval/gothic furniture for my BJD dolls. I like the style but could not find anything to my taste to buy, thus I have decided to make it with a 5mm foam board.

I have never worked with the wood before (apart from Balsa wood), but I have made miniature furniture with the foam board in the past and rather successfully. The reason why I could not use the Balsa wood for this project is that I could not find the right width and length to fit the extended back for the medieval chair.

Anyways, the original template was taken from a human version of the chair and here is a link to it: http://www.greydragon.org/furniture/chairs/

And my adjusted/adapted to BJD template can be seen below. Please note it is not to scale and you have to build the pattern yourself using the measurements I gave on the picture or you can resize on the PC the original template and make the necessary adjustments.

My template is for 40-45cm tall BJD doll (MSD, 1/4 scale)

Handmade medieval outfit for BJD MSD doll Ya (Resinsoul) and Lester (Souldoll)

I have started making these outfits in the beginning of November for a sewing challenge. Then I was sucked up into making the throne for the scene as well. The models are MSD: Lester (Souldoll) and Ya (Resinsoul).
Ya costume is made of white cotton under-dress, jersey fabric overdress and various ribbons. Necklace is handmade from random findings with added plastic rhinestone. The dress has got a small train, but I do not think you can see it.
Lester's outfit consists of: suede effect tunic, handmade buckles (wire was very thick, thus buckles are slightly "wonky"); there is a knife on his left arm fixed with a "leather brace". I've made the knife from air dry clay. Also faux fur was used to add some features to the shoulder and to the right arm brace. Trousers were made from jersey fabric (my old t-shirt). His claw necklace was made from an old earring.
The throne was also handmade and is a separate story :)

Talking about stories - there is a story behind the pictures, but I think I will not disclose it as yet.

How to make Russian style tiara/crown - Kokoshnik for MSD BJD doll

Here is a video tutorial of how I've made Kokoshnik - a Russian style headpiece (tiara or crown). It is entirely up to you how you will finish the piece. I have just demonstrated the way I wanted it to be. There are different techniques to Kokoshnik, for instance, some human size Kokoshniks are decorated in kanzashi technique (folded ribbon). Just let your creativity roll. Enjoy!

Here is the link below to the Kokoshnik pattern. You can adjust the pattern to your doll's head. The current size is for Ya MSD doll (ResinSoul).

After 7 evenings of sewing and crafting here is a Russian national costume for my resinsoul 1/4 doll. The headpiece (kokoshnik) took about 4 evening to complete, the underdress is made from the jersey fabric (old t-shirt) and the sarafan (the top dress) is made from the linen (wedding towel).

ResinSoul BJD doll Ya and her ...man :)

*******
He is 1/4 BJD doll (~52 cm tall). Wearing wool wig, has not ordered anything else for him. I am planning to make him clothes for the next photoshoot.

***************
Ya doll is ~42 cm tall. This is not her normal wig and I can't say that I like it.

Well, seems like they like each other :)

His clothes and character are in the pipeline of my creativity.

Please watch my video demonstration of making polymer clay doll using FIMO mold "Lilly"

Some comments about making this doll from the mold:
Hands and feet were ready to be modelled, though I found hands required more attention than feet. The upper body is incomplete. For me it would have been easier to make the whole torso from scratch, but for the purpose of the demonstration I have used the top part of the trunk from the mold.
Bear in mind that the back of the legs, as well, as the back of the top part of the torso required building up, though you can make them 3D whilst clay is still in the mold, but it could be tricky to maintain the correct proportion.
Speaking of which, what I liked about this mold is that the form helped me to keep the proportions right. I usually have problems with it.
I was surprised how detailed the face turned out. I did not do much to it sculpting wise, just inserted the eyes into the sockets, painted the face and glossed. That was it.

One thing about using a mold is that you will need to be very patient and up to date with your clay "smoothing" skills.

Here are some pictures of the completed doll. She is a red head, as I used to be one :D The hair is made from the wool (obtained from HobbyCraft store). The wool was simply glued on to her head.
The dress is made from polymer clay and textured using a texturing sheet.
